Many states have an 80-hour education requirement to obtain an auctioneer license. For students living in states with this requirement, they would first complete the Certified Auctioneer Training program, followed by an additional 30 hours of instructor-guided apprenticeship.

Certified Auctioneer Training—Live Class (42 Hours)
Personal Property Appraisal Course—Live Class(8 Hours)
Instructor-guided Independent Study (10 Hours) – Course participants engage in structured independent study guided by instructors.
Instructor-guided Apprenticeship (20 Hours) – Course participants observe and participate in the conduction of a course instructor’s auction business. Experience to include: following auction leads, listing auction and negotiating contracts, live auction setup, online auction cataloging, participating in live auction as ring person/clerk/cashier/auctioneer, conducting and closing online auctions, accounting of sale proceeds and seller settlements, compiling closing statements for sellers.
